In being a mom I have found you have to find new tricks to get kids to eat (well my son). Some people are blessed with children who have a healthy appetite. During Cal's first 2 years of his life I cried more than I had in all my 27 years over his lack of eating. We were sent to a nutritionist who allowed us to feed him 4 pediasures a day. That is just wrong if you ask me but it was all we could do. So after much prayer and tears and more prayer, one day Cal started to eat. Never as much as other kids, but he actually ate. There were days in the beginning when I rejoiced over 10 bites of spaghetti for an entire day, but it was food and it didn't come from a cup. Now he eats 3 meals a day and a snack. Such an amazing feat. We are so thankful for the Lord touching him.

One of his favorite meals is cinnamon sugar toast. And the other morning I decided to cut them into hearts before he woke up. A little trick my mom used to do. I had the hearts waiting when he came to the table and he was so excited: "Mommy you made me hearts!" then after 2 minutes and 2 hearts being devoured he decided he needed some stars. So he actually ate 3 hearts and a star which equals about 1.5 pieces of toast, woo-hoo for a kid who rarely asks for seconds. Sometimes it is the simplest things that make a difference and it is a joy as a mom to try to make things a little more fun for my kids. They make my days special and I want to make theirs special to.

He helped make his stars and even made one for his sister.
His dad didn't eat very well either. I used to call him cookie monster. I know it has to be frustrating, but thank God he is doing better.
