This one is for you mom...

I was blessed this past month to have my mom around. She just left a week ago and it has been difficult getting back to normal. I was spoiled to have her take the kids for a couple hours each day while I worked on projects here and there. I unfortunately try to start to many and so I have several waiting half finished. Hopefully, I will finish them in the next year, otherwise they will have to wait for her return next summer. These are one of the projects that my mom took upon herself to start. After seeing my car everyday and all that ended up strewn across the floor she suggested we make these organizers.

She did all the measurements and created this astronaut organizer for Cal. He is very pleased with it and even helped us think of ways to make it better. He asked her "How can I reach it, so I can get to my stuff?" Which made her think of sewing a shoe string to the center so they could reach and pull it towards them.
I finished up Laney's today. We went back and forth on what material to use. Finally, I decided I would use up some of the scraps that I have laying around. Now that it is finished I am pleased but would make some changes... That's how it goes when I make something. Hindsight is 20/20, but I just remind myself this is a functional item not a glamour organizer. Laney loves it and calls it her bubble gum (the polka dots look like her bubble gum pj's that Gramm's bought her)

My mom did these without a pattern but I do think Simplicity carries a similar item. That might make it simpler than me trying to explain a how-to. But for anyone in need of some organization for their vehicle this is a great route to go! Thanks Mom for your ideas and putting them into action! WE MISS YOU!
