Pillow Case Dress/Shirt How-to

Sorry Rebecca I promised a pictorial how-to on these dresses weeks ago. I have had these pictures sitting on my computer for at least two weeks and just haven't sat down to write this post.
This dress is so easy and can be made for any age. Laney has 3 in her closet, whenever I have needed a quick theme dress or just wanting to create something I throw one of these together. The whole process will take less than 30 minutes.

Step 1:
To measure the length you will need to make your front and back pieces you measure from the collar bone to the desired length. Then add 2.5 inches for the ribbon casing on top and the bottom hem. For the arm holes I just guesstimate it. You can take a sleevless dress or tank top to give you a guide. Cut a front and back piece (on the fold).

Step 2:
Fold the arm holes a 1/4in and then fold again to form a hem. For the professionals you can use bias tape to make it look nicer. Stitch close to folded edge.

Step 3:
Iron down a 1/4 in on top seam of dress then fold and iron down a 1 inch seam. Stitch like you are making a hem. This is the casing for the ribbon ties.

Step 4:
Sew your side seams together.

Step 5:
Fold your hem up and iron down. Then stitch.
Step 6:
Cut your ribbons the desired length you would like them to be. Keep in mind you will need more if you are wanting a bow instead of simple knots. Using a safety pin attach ribbons to pin and push through casing.
