For the past three months I have been the designated the cook for our choir at church. It helped in keeping everyone there after church so they could practice immediately following lunch. My favorite part is finding new desserts to try out. Here was my most recent cake. It was a strawberry dream!!! I loved it and thought I would share.
It is a basic golden vanilla cake which I followed the boxes instructions. Although next time I plan to experiment with using Strawberry puree in place of the water. After allowing the cakes to cool I sliced them horizontally into two more layers. The best part is the frosting.
1 stick of butter
1/2 c. of fresh strawberries chopped
4 c. of powdered sugar
( you will need 2 c. of fresh sliced strawberries to layer inside as well.)
Mix all three ingredients till well blended. Separate frosting into 4 parts. Ice your first layer with crumb side of cake up. Place another layer on top. Frost then top this layer with sliced fresh strawberries. Repeat then final layer is just Frosting. The side is frosted with fresh whipped cream. I think that the next time I make it though I will just make extra frosting and ice with that. It is so good especially for someone who loves strawberries!
Yum, sound very good. I love fresh strawberries.
